History of the brand

Four Winns was founded in 1975 by John Winn, his father, Bill, and brothers Bill Jr. and Charlie in the town that still serves as its headquarters: Cadillac, Michigan. Boating always ran in the family: as a child, Winn spent much of his time boating with his grandmother and made a hobby of building hydroplanes.

But running a business presented its challenges. Four Winns’ early days were rife with hardship, including a fire that destroyed its facilities just three years after the brand’s debut. Thanks to the faith of the local community and their suppliers, the business survived, and ultimately, became one of the largest boat builders nationwide.

In the late 1980s, the company was bought by OMC Boat Group, and since 2014, has been owned by the French boat company Groupe Beneteau – a global market leader in the boat building industry.
